SFMapEditor is a Windows tool for opening the maps of a Soldier Front installation, looking at them properly, and changing what a map script, a world file and a prop setup file can change. It never writes to the installation: edits are built into a client patch.
Seeing a map
- Every map in every
.sffarchive is listed; geometry, textures, lightmaps, collision, props, world lights and the gameplay script load together, on a worker thread. - Lit, albedo, lightmap-only, normals and clay shading; wireframe, grid and sky box; overlays for collision, portals, props, gameplay markers and lights; top, front and side views.
Editing it
- Gameplay markers: spawns, bomb sites, cameras, sounds and every other element of the map script, moved, turned, resized, duplicated and deleted.
- World lights: colour, range and position.
- Prop collision, switched per prop family.
- Sky and time of day: another sky set, or an hour the lightmaps and sky are graded toward.
- Sectors: names and ambience.
One undo stack of 64 steps covers all of it. Build Patch writes the changed script, world, collision, lightmaps and sky back into their original containers and packs them. The SDK's round-trip test rebuilds all 46 area archives and rewrites every script, world and collision file byte for byte.
Every command is in a palette on Ctrl+K, and a right-click in the viewport offers what applies to what is under the cursor.
