Need for Speed: Most Wanted

Tools, mods, renderers and research for the 2005 PC release, patched to v1.3.

Most Wanted is the game we have spent the longest on. The research comes first: a reference book written from the game's own bytes and an SDK generated from the same data. Everything else is built on those two, from the editors to the renderers to the mods.

Finished

MWEncyclopedia78 chapters on the game's formats, data, runtime classes and systems, from a chunk header to the running game.
MWSDKC++20 readers and writers for the game's files, and a header-only runtime layer with 1,778 recovered symbols.
MWOn12A d3d9.dll that translates the game's Direct3D 9 into Direct3D 12, with our own translation.
MWOn12 SDKPlugins, ASI mods, hooking, a shader kit and VanGUI, for mods that run on MWOn12.
MWToolsA desktop editor for textures, models, cars, effects, audio, music, movies, cutscenes, the front end and the map.
NFSMapEditorA world editor for Rockport: scenery, races, the road graph, traffic, trigger zones, breakers, effects and weather.
NFSMW-MLA mod loader: textures, whole files, models and plugins dropped into a folder, with the install left untouched.
MWDXRuns the game on Direct3D 11 or 12 instead of 9, chosen by one setting; the game is never changed.
FX12Ambient occlusion, reflections, god rays, bloom, depth of field and a colour grade, on MWOn12.
WSDX12ThirteenAG's Widescreen Fix, rebuilt as an MWOn12 plugin.
DriftModeHold-the-throttle drift handling on one key, with every number in an ini file.
RemovePoliceHUDTakes the pursuit HUD off the screen: cop and helicopter icons, the pursuit panel, the cop radar and the heat meter.
NoSpeedBreakerGaugeHides the SpeedBreaker charge meter, and the gauge that shares its bezel, from the race HUD.
NoShadowsRemoves every shadow texture (SHD_) from every pack as the game loads it, chosen by name.
MWTexCleans every world texture with Real-ESRGAN and writes it back at its original size and format.

In development

VanillaPatchA bug-fix layer in the manner of SilentPatch: fixes only, nothing about how the game looks or plays, each one tied to an address verified in MWSDK and each one reversible. The first six cover a pursuit crash, a cop-physics crash, a guard on attribute lookups, frame pacing, a language check at boot, and reflections.
VanillaOptionsThe ExOpts Team's NFSMWExtraOptions, every feature carried over onto MWSDK and VanHooks. The options are theirs; only the plumbing changed.
